The Coyote & Buddha Variations

The story:
In one of his previous incarnations, Buddha was walking along the edge of a cliff and heard cries coming from below. Upon looking over the edge, he saw starving tiger cubs with a mother tiger too weak to feed them. The Buddha-in-progress leaped immediately to his death to provide nourishment for the cubs.
Variation one:
One time, Coyote and Buddha were walking along the edge of a cliff and heard cries coming from below. Upon looking over the edge, they saw starving tiger cubs with a mother tiger too weak to feed them. Without a single moment of hesitation, Coyote pushed the Buddha off the cliff to his death, thus providing nourishment for the cubs.
Variation two:
One time, Coyote and Buddha were walking along the edge of a cliff and heard cries coming from below. Upon looking over the edge, they saw starving tiger cubs with a mother tiger too weak to feed them. Without a single moment of hesitation, Coyote pushed the Buddha off the cliff. The Buddha fell on the tigress, killing them both. Coyote scaled the cliff and skinned the tigress, as the cubs devoured the Buddha.
Variation three:
One time, Coyote and Buddha were walking along the edge of a cliff and heard cries coming from below. Upon looking over the edge, they saw starving tiger cubs with a mother tiger too weak to feed them. Without a single moment of hesitation, they continued their walk.

Coyote, being hungry, devoured the Buddha.
Then climbed down and skinned the tigress…
And the cubs.
"Cute trick," said Buddha.
"Thanks," replied Coyote.
"…Hey! Where did you come from?!?"
